The developers of the project shared some features of one of the innovations in the updated game
EA Motive has added an AI director to the Dead Space remake, which is responsible for “hundreds“offrightening elements and will make players fear the Ishimura sections they have already visited. The system will keep track of players’ actions and maintain tension throughout the protagonist’s misadventure.
In the original Dead Space, returning to an already travelled chapter changed nothing for Isaac – all monsters were defeated and the locations themselves were nothing surprising, as the scripts were only triggered once. That will change in the remake.
According to the project’s senior producer Philippe Ducharme, the AI director will dabble with the lights, making the bulbs spontaneously blink or turn off altogether, scatter the corpses of the ship’s crew members across the compartments that Isaac has already passed and much more.
“Essentially, there are hundreds of possible scenarios […] This feature was added by us to keep the immersive experience uninterrupted.”
